Alyssa James opens at the AO Juniors
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica and the Caribbean’s top women’s junior tennis player Alyssa James will make her debut at the Australian Open junior championships on Monday night, Jamaica time, against second-ranked Jana Kovakova of the Czech Republic in the first round.
The 17-year-old who is ranked 65th in the world down from her highest ranking, moving almost 90 places up the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior charts over the last 12 months, will be making her Junior Grand Slam debut.
She enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season where she was a finalist at the prestigious Orange Bowl tournament and also won four singles and five doubles titles.
