Bail extended after mediation fails in wounding case
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A dispute involving allegations of wounding was referred to mediation but later returned to court when the discussions proved unsuccessful on Tuesday.
Oniel Gordon appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court to answer charges of unlawful wounding and assault at common law, while Nshando Stewart was charged with wounding with intent.
The court briefly heard that Gordon sustained several stab wounds during the incident.
Presiding Judge Alwayne Smith enquired whether both men were willing to pursue mediation and explained the process to them. Both agreed, and an on-the-spot mediation was conducted.
After the discussions, the court was informed that the matter required “more conversation.”
The case was then sent to case management, and bail was extended for both men until April 10.
