Lila Ike to make Grammy performance debut
Reggae songstress set to perform at award show's opening ceremony on Sunday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reggae singer Lila Ike continues to enjoy international success as she’s expected to ride the Grammy wave all the way to the stage.
The songstress, who is a first-time nominee in the Best Reggae Album category, is poised to make history at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday as she announced her debut performance at the event’s official opening ceremony.
Ike made the special announcement via social media on Wednesday. For the Manchester-born artiste, the moment is a dream come true.
“I remember the little girl who loved singing and decided she wanted to be an artiste. Attending the GRAMMYs was a very big dream of hers. Now, not only do I get to walk the red carpet as a nominee, but I’m also honoured to be performing at the opening ceremony. God is amazing,” she shared alongside a poster bearing the news.
Ike is the sole female nominee in the Best Reggae Album category this year, standing alongside fellow Jamaican acts Vybz Kartel, Jesse Royal, Keznamdi, and Mortimer.
Her critically-acclaimed album Treasure Self Love is her debut full-length project.
The album features collaborations from award-winning R&B star, H.E.R, rapper Joey Badass, as well as fellow reggae artiste, mentor and Grammy-nominee himself, Protoje.
Should she win, Iké would become only the second female artist in history to take home the Best Reggae Album trophy, following in the footsteps of Koffee.
The 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony is set to take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
