The Link Up set to toast noms ahead of Grammys
As the world turns its attention towards the 68th annual Grammy Awards set for the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles this Sunday, the rhythmic pulse of Jamaica takes centre stage in the “City of Angels” through a musical celebration dubbed The Link Up.
Held in partnership with Boomyard LA, Soundcheck Jamaica, and the Jamaica Tourist Board, the event is being marketed as a premier cultural celebration uniting architects of reggae and dancehall.
“The objective is to create a progressive, forward-thinking platform that brings authentic Jamaican-themed experiences to spaces outside of Jamaica, while creating meaningful opportunities for creatives and industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and build more productive, long-term relationships,” said Carleene Samuels, co-organiser of the event set for Friday, January 30, at Delicious Pizza in Los Angeles, California.
Feature performances are expected from Bam Marley (formerly Bombaata), Blvk H3ro, Zuri Marley, Ghetto Youths Sound, and more.
Samuels said patrons can expect “an intimate, elevated cultural experience — part marketplace, part conversation, part celebration”.
“There will be a curated shopping experience, thoughtful dialogue, great music — DJs and live — and a space filled with artistes, executives, creatives, and tastemakers who are genuinely invested in reggae and dancehall. It’s about connection, good energy, and having a great time,” she added.
From deep-rooted reggae mainstays to first-time nominees and a dancehall legend, this year’s Grammy nominees in the Best Reggae Album category represent a wide cross section of the very best. The 2026 cohort reflects the evolving global influence of the local music industry.
“It’s a perfect snapshot of the genre right now. The nominees reflect range, depth, and evolution. You’re seeing different sounds and approaches represented, which speaks to how reggae [and dancehall] continues to grow while staying rooted. It’s a strong reminder that the music is not static; it’s alive, adaptive, and globally influential,” she said.
A portion of the proceeds from The Link Up will go towards hurricane relief efforts.
