Mount Pleasant seek rebound against Arnett
Former champions Mount Pleasant FA will aim to bounce back from Sunday’s shock loss to Waterhouse FC, while Tivoli Gardens will look to leapfrog defending champions Cavalier SC when the Jamaica Premier League resumes today with two rescheduled matches.
Mount Pleasant and Arnett Gardens meet for the second time in less than two weeks. The St Ann team edged the South St Andrew side 1-0 on Thursday, thanks to a penalty at the Anthony Spaulding Complex.
Arnett, coming off a 1-1 draw away to Treasure Beach on Sunday, will be looking to break into the top six. They have not beaten Mount Pleasant since the 2022-23 season. Despite Sunday’s setback to Waterhouse, Mount Pleasant still boast the league’s best defence, having conceded just nine goals. Arnett, apart from their 10-2 win over Spanish Town Police, have struggled for goals, scoring only four in their last five matches.
Tivoli enter their match against Treasure Beach at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex in confident form after coming from behind to beat Cavalier 2-1 on Sunday. The St Andrew team will seek a third straight victory over the St Elizabeth side, having beaten them twice in the 2023-24 season.
Nickalia Fuller, who scored a brilliant free kick against Cavalier on Sunday — a week after netting for Jamaica in their 1-0 friendly win over Grenada — is expected to lead Tivoli’s attack.
