‘Not Nice’ killed, ‘Raw Dog’ surrenders as police intensify crime fight
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A wanted man was killed while another surrendered less than 24 hours later in what the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says is part of its continued crackdown on serious and violent crimes.
On Tuesday Alex Brown, otherwise called ‘Raw Dog’, who was wanted for murder and featured recently on the JCF’s Wanted Wednesday’s campaign, turned himself in to the police in Clarendon.
Less than 24 hours before, on Monday, Omoy Largie, otherwise called ‘Not Nice’, was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police about 5:00 am in Green Island, Hanover.
Largie was featured several times on the JCF Wanted Wednesday’s campaign following the murder of Omar Nichols in Mount Carey, St James. Police say a Smith and Wesson pistol and five rounds of ammunition were seized during the incident. Based on investigations and forensic evidence, the murder of Nichols was posthumously cleared.
The incident was reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB).
The police are reminding individuals who are approached by the police, especially those who are wanted, to surrender peacefully. Additionally, the public is reminded that it is an offence to harbour criminals.
Anyone with information regarding criminal activities or the whereabouts of other wanted persons should contact the nearest police station, Crime Stop at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811 or the police 119 emergency number.
