Alyssa James exits Australian Open with quarter-finals doubles loss

Jamaica’s top women’s tennis player, Alyssa James, saw her Grand Slam debut draw to a close Thursday with a quarter-final loss in the doubles event at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

James and her Polish partner, Maja Pawelska, lost in three sets, beaten 10–5 in the final set tie-breaker.

James and Pawelska took the opening set 6–2, but were unable to maintain the momentum, losing the second set 3-6 before falling short in the third set.

Earlier this week, James lost in three sets to second-ranked Czech Jana Kovakova in first-round singles action.
