Hidden camera catches alleged Bogue Hill theft, case settled in court
ST JAMES, Jamaica — After spending months before the St James Parish Court, the case involving Renae Fletcher, who was allegedly caught on covert video removing large sums of money from a Bogue Hill residence, was resolved on Wednesday through alternative dispute resolution.
Fletcher appeared before Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton and was represented by attorney-at-law Dalton Reid.
At a previous hearing, the case had been referred to mediation, and on Wednesday the court was informed that the parties had successfully reached a settlement.
Fletcher—identified as the daughter of the complainant’s helper—had reportedly been staying at the home intermittently for about 10 years.
In May 2025, the complainant noticed money disappearing from a chest of drawers and installed a nanny cam hidden inside a clock.
On June 6, she reportedly received an alert showing Fletcher in the bedroom removing items from the drawer.
When she returned home, J$800,000 and US$100 were allegedly missing.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to Fletcher’s arrest and a charge of larceny from the dwelling.
