Jamaica beat St Vincent in Concacaf Women’s U17 qualifier
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica assumed the lead in Group D of Concacaf Women’s U17 qualifier on Thursday after beating St Vincent and the Grenadines 5-0 at Stadion Guillermo Prospero Trinidad in Oranjestad.
Jamaica are on to seven points after winning back-to-back games after drawing against Guyana in their opening game played last week, one point ahead of Honduras, who play their third game later on Thursday.
Jamaica led 2-0 at halftime after an own goal in the 38th minute gave them the lead, and Jaya Lecky converted a penalty in the 43rd minute.
Lecky provided the assist for the third goal, scored by Malayna Caromaya Johnson-Mighty in the 54th minute before Kalila Daley made it 4-0 in the 68th minute. Shennel Walters added a fifth a minute later.
Jamaica’s next game is on Tuesday when they take on Honduras in what could be a must win encounter.
