Kintyre Holdings takes full ownership of Kulcha Rum
KINGSTON, Jamaica, — Kintyre Holdings (JA) Limited said on Tuesday it has acquired the remaining shares in Kulcha Rum, raising its stake in the Jamaican spirits brand to 100 per cent, according to a company statement.
The company did not disclose the value of the transaction or the size of its previous holding.
Kintyre Holdings said full ownership would allow it to consolidate management and accelerate plans to expand Kulcha Rum’s distribution locally and internationally. It said it is in discussions with a distributor to widen the brand’s retail and on-premise presence in Jamaica and explore export opportunities.
The company also said it is undertaking selective rebranding and market-sensitisation efforts as it prepares for a broader rollout, adding that production volumes are expected to increase once distribution arrangements are finalised.
Kintyre Holdings also said it is in talks with local and international strategic investors who could provide capital and market access, though no agreements have been concluded.
As part of its governance and management changes, the company said it has strengthened its operating teams supporting Kulcha Rum and has appointed a president and chief executive officer who is expected to take up the role on March 1, 2026. It also said it is in the process of forming a board of directors with industry experience.
The company added that it has secured, in principle, a commitment from a leading Jamaican dancehall artiste to act as a brand ambassador, subject to final documentation.
“Rum is more than a product in Jamaica—it’s culture, history, celebration, and identity,” Tyrone Wilson, chairman, president and chief executive of Kintyre Holdings, said in the statement.
Kintyre Holdings (JA) Limited is an investment holding company focused on acquiring and developing businesses in selected sectors.
