Disciplinary actions taken by JRC Stewards
The Stewards announce the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, Unit 15-17 Big Buy Plaza, Portmore, St Catherine, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Jockey CLIVE LYNCH, who rode THE GENERAL in the sixth race on Saturday, January 3, 2025, was suspended for two race days for the excessive use of his whip. The suspension will commence on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Jockey REYAN LEWIS, who rode ANOTHER WOW in the second race on Saturday, January 17, 2026, was fined $8,000 for the intimidation and interference caused to ANOTHER QUALITY in the vicinity of the 800-metre point.
Jockey RICHIE SHAKES, who rode BROMPTON ALEX in the third race on Saturday, January 17, 2026, had his explanation accepted for the intimidation and interference caused to BIG BIG DADDY in the vicinity of the 800-metre point.
Jockey DEMAR WILLIAMS, who rode WALL STREET TRADER in the eighth race on Saturday, January 17, 2026, had his explanation accepted for the excessive use of his whip.
Jockey ROMANE GORDON, who rode SWEET VICTORY in the sixth race on Saturday, January 17, 2026, was fined $10,000 for the intimidation and interference caused to SUCCESSFUL MAN approaching the 600-metre point.
Jockey JAVANIEL PATTERSON, who rode HAPPY FORCE in the sixth (6th) race on Saturday, January 17, 2026, was fined $5,000 for the excessive use of his whip.
Groom WAYNE SMITH was summoned for his failure to present horse SECURITY CODE on time for Lasix administration on Saturday, January 24, 2026. After hearing his submission, groom Wayne Smith was exonerated.
Trainer ERROL BURKE was fined $10,000 for his failure to present the horse SECURITY CODE on time for Lasix administration on Saturday, January 24, 2026 as per Rule 257(9) of the Jamaica Racing Commission Racing Rules 1977.
