Raddesh Roman reaches 400 wins
...Jockey credits maturity and support for career milestone
Jockey Raddesh “Sneaky Fox” Roman celebrated a major career milestone on Saturday, January 24, 2026, securing his 400th win aboard The Hot Dancer on the 11-race card at Caymanas Park. The victory marks a highlight in Roman’s career, which has seen him evolve from a fledgling rider to a seasoned champion.
Trained by Anthony “Baba” Nunes, The Hot Dancer ran out an easy 9½ length winner in the fifth race over 5½ furlongs (1,100m). The race was a three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($500,000-$400,000) spread that included native-bred six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four) and imported six-year-olds and native-bred five-year-olds (non-winners of three).
Roman went on to win two more races aboard Money Box for trainer Adrian Prince and Fernando, also for Nunes. Fernando’s victory came in the $1.1-million Rimksy Trophy over 6 furlongs (1,200m).
“It is a wonderful feeling to reach another milestone in my career,” Roman said, beaming with pride.
“I just want to thank Father God, my agent, all the owners, trainers, grooms, and everybody that supported me throughout my career,” he told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Roman, who began his career with a slow start, has picked up pace in recent years, capturing two riding championships in 2024 and 2025. Both times he rode over 100 winners and credited his maturity and newfound focus for his success.
“The first part of my career, I was still toying and playing around,” he admitted. “But now I am much more mature and know what life is about. I’m taking it seriously, and look where I am now.”
With his sights set on a third-consecutive jockeys’ title, Roman remains grounded.
“There’s no pressure on me going for a third-straight title. I will just continue to work hard along with good health and strength I know I can accomplish a third consecutive jockeys’ title,” he said.
Roman has ridden some exceptional horses, including Blue Vinyl and Of a Revolution, with whom he won Classic races and the Bruceontheloose Sprint, respectively. Asked to identify his best mount, he demurred.
“That’s a puzzle,” he said, laughing. “I have ridden so many good horses during my career and so to identify which one is the best is very hard.”
