First look: Rave reviews for ‘Stew Peas’ at trailer premiere
Followers of influencer Kerry Ann “Chiney K” Collins turned out at Tracks and Records on Sunday for the trailer premiere of Stew Peas.
The almost two-minute-long trailer provided a glimpse into the storyline of the film, which sees Collins playing a detective named Tessa in a psychological thriller which boasts plenty of drama and suspense.
Following a round of applause from the viewing audience, Collins took to the microphone to share her excitement and gratitude.
“I am thankful to you all for coming out. The film is the result of months of hard work. My co-star, who plays my best friend, is also here; the cast is wonderful, and it has truly been a very good experience. I am thankful to everyone who was a part of the production. As you can see, a lot has gone into this film,” said Collins.
“After what you’ve seen today, I know you will be out in droves when the film is out in late June. Again, thank you all so much for your love and support,” added Collins.
Attendees shared similar sentiments, expressing excitement for the film’s release, pointing to the high-quality cinematography as a major source of intrigue.
“It has a crisp look, a blockbuster, Hollywood type of film. I am anticipating the final product. I have ideas in my head about what the film is all about —and that has me excited— but I am really waiting for the actual film,” said insurance officer, Chantal Pinnock-Crawford.
“The production looks high-quality, and that’s definitely a good look for the production company behind the film and the nation. This is a product of Jamaica. This is excellent,” added businessman James Nation.
Others in attendance were most interested in seeing their favourite influencer on the big screen.
“I couldn’t stop smiling, to be honest. Chiney K is an inspiration to me, and seeing her on screen makes me even happier,” said Kimone Buckeridge.
“I am a Chiney K supporter and seeing her on the big screen in a high-quality production is a real treat, particularly for people like me. I love local productions, and there simply aren’t enough of them,” another supporter shared.
Produced by iKon Media & Films in collaboration with Fareye Films, Stew Peas is set for its box office release in June 2026.
