Harbour View player taken to hospital after head injury in Tivoli Gardens clash
Harbour View defender Gavin Burton has been rushed to the hospital following a head injury suffered during the club’s Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League game against Tivoli Gardens FC at the Harbour View Stadium.
During an aerial challenge in the 72nd minute, Burton and teammate Ajeanie Talbott clashed heads, with Burton falling unconscious.
After spending nearly 10 minutes on the ground, a stretcher was brought out for Burton as the club’s medical staff and the Sure Time Emergency Medical Services team worked to help him regain consciousness before he was taken away in an ambulance.
Both players and supporters were visibly shocked before the referee, Daneon Parchment, decided to resume play.
Burton’s current status is unclear, but a Harbour View official will provide an update soon.
Talbott was replaced two minutes after returning to the field as he felt the after effects on the clash.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
