Pack Plays upsets Of a Revolution in Eileen Cliggott Memorial Trophy
IN a bold front-running effort, the Ricardo Mathie-conditioned Pack Plays upset favourite Of a Revolution in the $1.75-million Eileen Cliggott Memorial Trophy (GR1) over six and a half furlongs (1,300m) at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
The five-year-old, dark bay brown Pack Plays, ridden by Christopher Mamdeen, dominated the field, winning the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward by two and three quarter lengths. He clocked 1:19.0 (24.0 x 47.2 x 1:12.3) for the distance.
Pack Plays set the pace from the start, and when asked to run in deep stretch responded well and won handily at the wire. Of a Revolution just got up in time to beat Digital One for second money.
Champion trainer Jason DaCosta and champion jockey Raddesh Roman won two races each on the 10-race card.
DaCosta saddled Prince Roy (Tevin Foster) in the second race and Roman Lady (Robert Halledeen) in the night pan.
Roman was successful with Tiffany Blu for trainer Gary Crawford in the opening event and Senor Biscotti for trainer Richard Azan in the third race.
The action continues this weekend with races on Saturday and Sunday.
