After years of delays, water meter finally replaced following columnist’s intervention
Dear Claudienne,
Greetings. I hope my message finds you well.
I have been getting the runaround from the National Water Commission (NWC) for years now at all levels and everyone there seems to be colluding to discredit my legitimate claims. They are just making promises with no action.
On January 28,2025 I sent the following email to the NWC:
“I’m writing you in relation to me being overcharged consistently and unable to get a detailed report of findings to suggest billings are indeed correct and/or accurate, I’ve been sending emails to Miss SR and Miss MGH to no avail. I have spoken to the OUR on several occasions, the last being on or about June last year and was told by the lady I spoke with that you are now the person who was going to review my matter and provide a response, It has been over six months and I have received neither a call or email hence I’m sending you this message. I’ve gone ahead and cleared all outstanding amounts, but the bill last month was for $18,000 plus.
On multiple occasions I have asked to have the meter changed as the readings are not visible. The NWC promised to have the faulty meter changed in February of 2025 and we are now heading to February 2026 in a matter of days.
I’m asking that the meter be changed as a matter of urgency.
I hope you can assist me to get a new meter on my property and the overbillings credited to my account.”

Dear DI,
On Monday, January 26, 2026, Tell Claudienne brought to your attention an email from the NWC that informed you that the meter change could take place that same day (January 26).
The email stated:
“We are sorry for the delay. A team can be there today to have the meter replaced if that is convenient with you.”
You immediately contacted the NWC and informed the column that the meter was changed. Please let us know if the overbillings are not credited to your account so Tell Claudienne can seek to have the adjustments made.
We wish you all the best.
