Curfew imposed in Norwood following double murder
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The St James police have imposed a curfew in a section of Norwood, St James, following a double murder in the community, which has been under a Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) since June 2021.
The bullet-riddled bodies of two men were discovered in an abandoned building in the area.
Commander of the St James Police Division, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Eron Samuels, said the curfew forms part of strengthened operational activities aimed at reassuring residents and restoring public safety.
The Norwood ZOSO had recorded no murders or shootings in 2025, and similarly, no murders were reported in the community in 2024.
SSP Samuels expressed regret that the positive trend had been broken.
“It is disappointing to know that after a period of no incidents within the zone, we now have an incident — much more a double murder,” the senior police officer said.
