Dunbeholden remain focused on playoff push despite narrow loss to Arnett
Dunbeholden FC’s narrow 1-0 defeat to former champions Arnett Gardens in a tense Jamaica Premier League encounter at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Monday night may have stalled momentum slightly, but the St Catherine-based club remain firmly focused on finishing the season strongly.
According to Chief Commercial Officer Aubyn Henry, the result, while disappointing, has not shaken the club’s belief in their long-term objectives.
“This season has been about consistency and focus,” Henry said. “We’ve made deliberate decisions at every level of the club, and the team is showing the results of that work. I am confident we are on the right track to reach the playoffs.”
Arnett Gardens struck late in the contest to secure all three points, a moment Henry admitted was difficult for the squad to process.
“In the final minutes of the game, Arnett scored from a moment in transition,” he explained. “It was a tough moment for the team and one we take seriously, but it also highlights how fine the margins are at this level.”
The loss was Dunbeholden’s sixth of the campaign, leaving them ninth in the standings on 25 points, three adrift of a playoff position.
Despite this, Henry remains optimistic that the squad can still meet the targets set ahead of the season.
“We have assembled a group with the right balance,” he added. “The experience provides stability, while the younger players bring energy and determination. Together, they set the tone for strong and consistent performances throughout the season.”
Henry also pointed to the team’s mentality as one of its biggest strengths, noting the composure and accountability displayed by players in challenging moments.
“The players understand what it means to wear the Dunbeholden badge,” he said. “They prepare thoroughly, stay focused during games, and take responsibility for their performances. That mindset is central to our success.”
With the league entering a crucial phase, Henry acknowledged the competitiveness of the Jamaica Premier League but remains encouraged by his team’s overall progress.
“The Jamaica Premier League is demanding, and every match tests your preparation and discipline,” he noted. “We are united, we are focused, and we are moving in the right direction. I am confident Dunbeholden FC will remain firmly in the playoff conversation this season.”
