Musician O J Style among two charged following firearm seizure

KINGSTON, Jamaica—A musician is among two slapped with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition charges following a firearm and ammunition seizure on Maxfield Avenue, Kingston 13, on Saturday.

Charged are 19-year-old musician known as OJ Style and ‘Zion,’ and 18-year-old Aaron Tyrell, otherwise called ‘Tavi,’ both of August Town, Kingston 7 addresses.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 9:40 pm, a team of officers was on mobile patrol when they signalled the driver of a white Toyota Isis to stop.

According to the police, the driver complied, and lawmen observed OJ Style throwing a bag to the rear of the vehicle. The bag was retrieved and reportedly found to contain a 9mm Taurus pistol with an affixed magazine containing six 9mm cartridges.

Tyrell later gave the police voluntary access to his phone, and both men were seen in several photographs handling the same firearm.

The firearm was seized, and both men were taken into custody, where they were charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorney.

Their court date is being finalised.
