Thirteen-year-old Canadian-born Jazmin Headley, whose parents are from St Elizabeth, has topped the Reggae North Canada Top 20 Reggae and Dancehall chart with the inspirational The Fire Inside.
The song features Richie Stephens and Bounty Killer (Rodney Price).
“The Fire Inside was inspired by observations of everyday life… It was also inspired by personal experiences, the will to motivate others, and encouraging my peers,” Jazmin told the Jamaica Observer on Tuesday.
She disclosed that she has been surprised about the level of popularity the track has gained within the Jamaican Diaspora in Canada.
“Thanks to Reggae North Radio for always promoting the song,” she said.
“Collaborating with Richie and Rodney was beautiful as always. Rodney started my music career at age nine when we did a song together. He has been a very effective figure in my music career and he’s one of the most influential persons and treats me with love and respect. He’s family, that’s how I see him,” Jazmin disclosed.
The artiste also spoke fondly about working alongside Richie Stephens.
“Uncle Richie is amusing, very positive, and he encourages me to do great, to focus, and is just amazing family,” she said.
Headley presently resides in Toronto, Canada, and attends school in Mississauga and is in the 9th grade.
