Another Wow expected to get it right in Eight Thirty Sprint
The running of the $1.05-million Eight Thirty Sprint officially kicks start the 2026 Classic season. The maiden special weight contest for native-bred three-year-olds fillies will run over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight and has attracted a field of 10 runners.
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide provides an analysis of each runner and a possible outcome of the race.
1. BEHAVE: (3 b f by Conquest Cherimash – Bedroom Chatter) – Debutant with promising training form. Behave is expected to perform well here but a winning run is very unlikely.
2. ANOTHER QUALITY: (3 ch f by Sensational Slam – Natural Mystical) – Four-race veteran with speed. Another Quality looks a contender and is expected to challenge for top honours.
3. MY FRIEND MICKI: (3 b f by Savoy Stomp – Bubbling Angeline) – Not expected to win.
4. QUEEN MAJESTY: (3 b f by Strikewhileitshot – Valley of Queens) – Best avoided.
5. LEXI LOU: (3 b f by Aveenu Malcainu – Herroyalhighness) – Finished third on January 17 behind Giving Thanks and Another Wow. Lexi Lou was then promoted to second following the disqualification of Another Wow. Looks for another strong performance from Lexi Lou here.
6. MISS VERONICA: (3 b f by Savoy Stomp – Carolina Trist) – Is going to be left behind in this one.
7. MELBA’S CHOICE: (3 b f by Conquest Cherimash – Miss Chestnut) – Well-bred filly who also makes her debut here. Melba’s Choice has worked really well coming into this race and could make a bold bid.
8. CATALEYNA: (3 b f by Casual Trick – Unpredictable) – Has no chance of winning.
9. ANOTHER WOW: (3 b f by Casual trick – Sarah Barracuda) – Disqualified from a second-place finish on last. Another Wow, on paper, looks the horse to beat and having shown good speed on last, she is expected to lead home rivals.
10. CALL HER NORRAY: (3 b f by Aveenu Malcainu – Lady Belridge) – Debutant who is hard to recommend for a winning run.
