Falmouth and Meadforest start JFF Championships

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Falmouth United and Meadforest, semi-finalists last season, will start their quest for honours when the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championships (formerly Tier II) kicks off on Saturday with seven games with another set to be played on Sunday.

Sixteen teams, separated into two zones, will contest the Championships that will see the finalists being promoted to the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) for the 2026-27 season, replacing the relegated teams.

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), Trelawny champions Duncans United, Wifi United from Portland, Roaring River from Westmoreland, STETHS Elite from St Elizabeth and Humble Lion who were relegated from the JPL last season are among the teams playing in the Championships this season.

Falmouth United will host STETHS Elite at the Trelawny Multipurpose stadium while Meadforest FC will be away to WiFi United.

Reno FC who had a good start last season before falling off pace will face newcomers Roaring River at Llandilo in a Westmoreland derby while former Premier League campaigners Lime Hall CC and Sakka Club Brown’s Town will meet in a St Ann derby at Drax Hall.
