Jamaica eyes historic first-ever berth at 2027 FIBA World Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica — For the first time in the nation’s history, Jamaica has an opportunity to qualify for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, as the national senior men’s team prepares to host crucial qualifying games in Kingston.
According to a post on Basketball Jamaica’s official Instagram page, the campaign tips off at the National Indoor Centre with two highly-anticipated matchups. The first game is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, at 6:10 pm, followed by a second game on Sunday, March 1, at 6:00 pm.
Fans are being encouraged to come out and support the “Top Shottaz” as they continue their historic push on home court.
Tickets are now on sale, with general admission priced at $2,000, children under 12 at $500, and students under 18 at $1,000. VIP tickets cost $5,500, while courtside seating is available for $8,000. Both VIP and courtside packages include food and drinks.
Jamaica’s qualification bid marks a major milestone for local basketball and could see the island represented on the world stage for the first time.
