Cornwall College beat Manning’s 5-0 in ISSA Rural Area Under- 16 football second round
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Cornwall College took a big step towards qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Mighty Malt Rural Area Under-16 competition after beating defending champions Manning’s School 5-0 in their second round Group 1 game played in Savanna- la- Mar on Tuesday.
This was Cornwall College’s second win in the round after they were awarded points when Muschett High failed to show up for their game last week.
Four schools have won their first two second round games including Ocho Rios High, Manchester High and Clarendon College as they seek to advance to the next round.
Manning’s School’s loss after they had won their opening game saw them drop into third place on goal-difference behind Green Island who beat Muschett High 1-0.
Ocho Rios High outscored Holmwood Technical 3-2 at Drax Hall for their second win in Group 3 where Belair High edged Munro College 2-1 to be tied with them on three points.
Manchester High handed St Elizabeth Technical a 2-1 loss to take over the lead in Group 4, ahead of the losers who are on three points.
Clarendon College beat Tacky High 4-0 to take over the lead in Group 6, while Denbigh High, got their first win beating McGrath High 4-0 as well.
