It’s Gonna Be…Jimbolee
Recording artiste Jimbolee has started off the year strong with the release of It’s Gonna Be Me.
The Jlee Records project was released on January 23.
“People love it. They think it’s different. Everywhere I go people are telling me about it, that it’s good or that it’s a number one song and I should keep up the work,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Jimbolee (real name Philip Wilmot) is a reggae artiste who operates by the mantra, “I love music too much to ever stop singing; I was born to sing.”
He began singing at eight years old and, like many Jamaican artistes, developed his passion for music while attending church every Sunday. He is a versatile artiste who also sings in Spanish.
So far the official music video for It’s Gonna Be Me has surpassed 112,000 views.
Jimbolee explained that his music strictly endorses positivity.
He said, too, that he would have loved to team up with several late reggae legends.
“Since I started doing music I’ve always looked up to positive artistes. My influences — who I’d like to do a collab with — none of them are alive right now: Garnett Silk [and] Dennis Brown. From the artiste is positive and they’re pushing out positive words I would do a collab with them, of course. When it comes on to music, music is a ministry. So, I would just do a collab with somebody who has a good and clean influence on the youth of today,” he reasoned, adding that he is open to working with emerging artistes, once they fit the criteria.
Jimbolee’s previous releases include I Wish and the album Spanish Love.
