Man accused of fatally stabbing uncle arrested in St Elizabeth
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police on Monday arrested a 35-year-old man accused of stabbing to death his 69-year-old uncle at their family home in Burnt Savannah near Lacovia in St Elizabeth.
Police identified the deceased as McCardy Morrison, a farmer of Burnt Savannah in St Elizabeth.
A police report said that about 6:30 am on Monday, the 35-year-old man got into a dispute with his uncle and allegedly used a sharp object to stab the elderly man.
The injured man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Subsequently, police went in search of the suspect and detained him.
The incident comes on the heels of a domestic violence intervention programme launched by the Jamaica Constabulary Force in Maggotty, St Elizabeth, last Saturday.
Head of the St Elizabeth police, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, had announced a similar domestic violence intervention session for February 21 in Lacovia.
