WATCH: JLP councillors walk out of KSAMC meeting after election of deputy mayor

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Uproar broke out at the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) monthly council meeting on Tuesday following the election of Springfield Division councillor Lorraine Dubson as deputy mayor.

Moments after Dubson’s election was announced, councillors representing the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) staged a walkout in protest, bringing proceedings to an abrupt halt.

The circumstances surrounding the vote and the reasons for the protest were not immediately clear.
