Jamaica, Trinidad gear up for Winter Olympics bobsleigh events set for Thursday
Training for the women’s monobob competitors, including Jamaica’s Mica Moore, will begin at the Winter Olympics on Thursday, as will training for the two-man bobsleigh.
Three training sessions, from Thursday to Saturday, are scheduled for monobob competitors in the event, which involves a single rider pushing and steering a bobsleigh along an icy track.
The heats of the event begin on Sunday, with heats one and two scheduled for the afternoon. The final two heats will be contested on Monday afternoon.
Bobsleigh events are decided over four heats; the fastest combined time wins the gold medal.
Following a similar schedule, training for the two-man event, in which Jamaica’s two-man team of Shane Pitter (pilot) and Crew [Nimroy Turgott, Joel Fearon, Junior Harris] will participate, will run from Thursday to Saturday.
Also participating is the Trinidadian team of Axel Brown (pilot), Shakeel John, De Aundre John, Xaverri Williams and Micah Moore.
The heats for this event will begin on Monday, with heats one and two contested in the afternoon, and will wrap up on Tuesday with heats three and four.
