Supporter gifts minister with Valentine’s Day basket outside Parliament
KINGSTON, Jamaica — For 45 minutes, Carl Campbell stood by the sidelines along Duke Street for the opening of Parliament with a Valentine’s Day basket and rose in hand for Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange.
As the minister emerged from her vehicle, he pushed through the crowd to greet her, a big smile plastered on his face as he presented Grange with his tokens of appreciation. He then carefully placed the gifts in the minister’s vehicle to secure them.
“My mother that. A she grow me from mi little,” a smiling Campbell told Observer Online, adding that he had to show her some love ahead of Valentine’s Day, observed annually on February 14.
He shared that he purchased the basket with his brother in downtown Kingston on Wednesday afternoon and made sure it was perfect for the minister.
“Mi love her so mi did have to get her a gift,” he said, adding that he admires the minister mostly for her generosity and kind heart.
