Foster reaches 400 wins
Jockey Tevin Foster marked a significant career milestone on Saturday, February 7, 2026, riding his 400th winner at Caymanas Park aboard the Adrian Prince-conditioned Tigray Express.
The landmark came in the seventh race, a three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($500,000-$400,000) event that included native-bred six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four) and imported six-year-olds and upward and native-bred five-year-olds (non-winners of three).
After being slow into stride at the off, Tigray Express coupled up to race in second place behind Golden Loyalty (Anthony Allen) down the backstretch. Tigray Express then challenged for the lead in deep stretch before running out an easy length-and-a-half win in the six and a half furlong (1,300m) race.
Foster expressed his gratitude and relief for his milestone.
“I am grateful for this milestone. It is well worth it. The hard work and the dedication have paid off,” Foster told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Foster credited his success to his team, trainers, owners, grooms, family, and supporters.
“Thanks to my team, all the trainers, owners, grooms, my family, and everybody that has supported me throughout my career. It was well appreciated and I thank them for that and it is a great feeling,” Foster said.
Foster acknowledged that his journey wasn’t without challenges, but emphasised that overcoming obstacles is part of the journey.
“There were a lot of ups and downs but obstacles have to be overcome and we did just that and I am so grateful for these 400 winners,” he said.
Foster, who spent seven months riding overseas, put his achievement into perspective.
“I wouldn’t say that this milestone took too long to come. Everything takes time. I was overseas riding for about seven months and so during that time if I were here, I would have reached 400 but things take time,” he stated.
With his focus on the present, Foster declined to comment on future plans.
“Going back overseas is something that I cannot comment on at this moment. I am here riding now and that is my focus at this moment,” he explained.
When asked about his goals, Foster highlighted the jockeys’ championship.
“Winning a jockeys’ championship would be an icing over everyone’s career as a champion is a champion. Winning the championship would be a tremendous feeling, it would be a plus to my racing career and I would be grateful for it. We all have this aim to win a jockeys’ championship, it is just hard work and dedication and what will come will come. As I said, I cannot comment on whether I am going to be overseas or here riding,” Foster ended.
