Racers World champions to make seasonal debuts at Camperdown Classic
KINGSTON, Jamaica — World Champions Oblique Seville and Antonio Watson along with Bouwahjgie Nkrumie and Taj Marques White, will all make their seasonal debuts at the Camperdown Classic on Saturday at the Ashenheim Stadium.
Seville, who won the 100m gold at the World Championship last September, will be lining up in the men’s 400m race and could face his clubmate Antonio Watson, the 2023 World Championship 400m champion.
The 400m will be just as stacked as we will also see the seasonal debut of former Kingston College (KC) star Tahj Marques White, now at Racers. He has a personal best of 45.84 seconds, and all eyes will be on him as he is sparingly raced.
Delano Kennedy of Uptimum, with a 44.74 seconds personal best, is also down to run along with Malik James-King of Titan, Britain’s Zharnel Hughes of Racers, Jermy Bembridge (Racers) and Nickecoy Bramwell of Calabar High.
Meanwhile, Bouwahjgie Nkrumie, formerly of Kingston College, now at Racers, will make his debut in the 60m and 100m. All eyes will be on him, as he is considered the next generation of sprinters behind Seville and Kishane Thompson.
He has a bullet start, which should be more suitable for the 60m and is the current Champs 100m record holder with 9.99 seconds.
World 200m bronze medallist Bryan Levell of Uptimum will also compete in the 60m. He achieved his personal best of 6.54 seconds earlier this season. Adrian Kerr of Dynamic Speed and Roshawn Clarke and Dejour Russell of Swept Track are also down to compete.
