SERIE A showdown: Inter Milan hosts Juventus in thrilling clash

...Real Madrid takes on resurging Real Sociedad in La Liga action

Four in-form and title chasing teams go head-to-head on Saturday in what promises to be two epic encounters when Inter Milan hosts Juventus, while Real Madrid hosts a resurging Real Sociedad in an eagerly anticipated showdown.

Event # 1 – Serie A – Inter Milan vs Juventus – 2:45PM

Inter Milan welcomes Juventus to the San Siro with momentum firmly on their side, as ahead of this tantalising clash, the Serie A leaders dismantled Sassuolo away 5-0, which underlines their current form. While Inter leads the league standing, Juventus is fourth, 12 points behind them and are aware that anything but a win could derail their chance of challenging for the title this season. With that said, Inter Milan’s emphatic win against Sassuolo extended their perfect run of five consecutive league wins, home and away, on the trot. At home, they have been particularly impressive, having won nine, drawn one, and suffered only two defeats from their last 12 matches. This type of form at home provides confidence that they can destroy the Old Lady, Juventus, in their Valentine’s Day clash.

Meanwhile, Juventus is seeking consistency as they enter the business end of the season, with performances that switch between brilliance and frustration for their fans. They enter this game off the back of a frustrating 2-2 home draw against Lazio, highlighting the inconsistency that has plagued their season so far. While they didn’t lose, the result also showed Juventus’s inability to win games against direct competitors for European qualification. With that said, ahead of this crucial match, Juventus’s away record presents cause for concern, having won six, drawn two, and suffered four defeats in the 12 matches away from home, suggesting the vulnerability against the top teams when playing on the road. And with Inter Milan’s exceptional home form, coupled with their five match-winning streak, Juventus could struggle to secure a win.

Key Stats

• Inter Milan is on a five match-winning streak in Serie A and have scored at least one goal in 14 consecutive matches.

•Juventus scored 2+ goals in each of the last three Serie A matches.

● Both sides – Inter Milan is unbeaten at home against Juventus in the last three matches.

The betting tip: Inter Milan win and both teams to score.

Event # LaLiga – Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad – 3:00PM

All eyes will be at the Bernabeu on Saturday as two of LaLiga’s in-form teams collide, when Real Madid hosts a surging Real Sociedad, in what promises to be an intriguing encounter. Indeed, both teams enter this high-profile clash of the back of wins in their last outing, with Real Madrid impressing in a 2-0 win away at Valencia and Real Sociedad securing a dominant 3-1 home win over Elche. With that said, Real Madrid will be aiming to maintain their winning momentum under new coach Alvaro Arbeloa, having put together a five-match winning streak in all competitions. At home, Real Madrid has been unstoppable, winning 10 of the 11 matches, with the only defeat coming against their fierce rivals Barcelona.

Eighth-placed Real Sociedad has had an inconsistent start to the season, but in recent times regained form and is building momentum as they aim to challenge for one of the European spots for next season. The 3-1 win at home against Elche in the last match extended their recent impressive form, having won four of the last five matches with the other ending in a draw. However, Sociedad’s present away record paints a gloomier picture, with just two wins from the 11 matches on the road. Indeed, the poor travelling form will be a significant concern ahead of the visit to the Bernabeu, where Real Madrid has literally been unstoppable along with the intimidating atmosphere.

Key Stats

• Real Madrid has won eight of thelast nine league matches and is unbeaten in 29 of the last 33 LaLiga matches.

• Real Sociedad has won seven of the last eight league matches and is unbeaten in the last 10 overall matches.

• Both sides – Real Madrid has won the last five home matches in LaLiga, while Real Sociedad is unbeaten in the last five away matches.

The betting tip: Real Madrid win.
