Suspect in Bayshore Park double murder killed in police confrontation
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A suspect in the Bayshore Park double murder was shot and killed during a confrontation with police in Harbour View, Kingston on Friday.
The deceased has been identified only by the alias “Rupie”.
Reports indicate that he was fatally shot during a police operation around 6:35 am. Law enforcement officials say a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Rupie was believed to be involved in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Anthony Blake, also known as “Nick” and an unidentified man described as having a bleach brown complexion, about 20 years old, 5ft 8in tall, and wearing blue jeans, grey underpants, a blue shirt, and red Clarks shoes. The unidentified victim also reportedly had an unkempt hairstyle.
According to reports, around 12:30 pm on Sunday, loud explosions were heard in the Texaco community. Blake was later seen running from the area while several men chased and fired at him. He was shot and fell to the ground, after which the attackers escaped into the Bayshore Park area.
Police responded to the incident and found Blake lying on the roadway. A subsequent search of the Texaco community led to the discovery of the second victim’s body in bushes.
Both men sustained gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. They were transported to Kingston Public Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
