Portmore United reclaim third place in JPL after beating Arnett 2-0
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Portmore United reclaimed third place in the Jamaica Premier League (JLP) on Monday after beating Arnett Gardens 2-0 in their second round game played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Dunstin Cohen scored his first goal of the season and Orlando Russell came off the bench to score the second as Portmore United joined second placed Racing United on 42 points, one more than fourth placed Mount Pleasant Football Association (FA).
The loss was the 11th of the season for Arnett Garden as they stayed on 30 points in seventh place, one more than defending champions Cavalier Soccer Club (SC) and Tivoli Gardens.
Portmore United meanwhile, extended their winning run against Arnett Gardens to five straight games.
Cohen put Portmore United into the lead in the 47th minute when he headed a corner from the right side past goalkeeper Anthony Bennett into the far corner.
With time running out and the game in time added Russell added a second when he arrived at the far right corner to fire a low cross back into the far corner.
