Alfa Wraif pushing ‘Island Romance’ sound
Having released two songs that introduced his Island Romance genre, Alfa Wraif plans to release an album showcasing that sound.
Twilight and A Night in Paradise are the songs he released in 2025. The latter is a collaboration with deejay Gaza Indu.
“My main focus for 2026 is the release and rollout of my upcoming album, which is designed to solidify Island Romance as a recognised and respected musical genre. We’ve already released key singles like Twilight and A Night in Paradise that have set the tone for what’s to come,” Alfa Wraif told Observer Online. “These tracks have gained momentum on international platforms and playlists, and we’re building that energy into the album release in the coming months.”
He disclosed that another song with Gaza Indu is in the works. That single is expected to be released in a matter of weeks.
The Westmoreland-born Alfa Wraif came up with the concept for a sensuous Jamaican sound after noticing a drop in dancehall music’s popularity in major overseas markets.
With a pending album, he is pleased with the foundation laid by the released songs.
“Twilight not only charted on the iTunes Reggae Daily Charts, A Night in Paradise is also trending on platforms like Audiomack and has sparked real conversations. These milestones indicate that listeners are connecting with the sound,” he said.
