With figure 8 on – London Spirit no longer a maiden
After six starts, London Spirit was finally able to win his first race at Caymanas Park on
Saturday, February 14, 2026.
A bay colt by Bern Identity out of Blufield, London Spirit, trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen in the saddle, earned his first success in a three-year-old maiden condition call going seven furlongs.
Suited by the trip based on his past exploits, London Spirit was not the best away when the starter pressed the go button. The early leaders were Another Quality (Raddesh Roman) and One Ianzha Links (Dane Dawkins). At this stage, London Spirit raced on the inside rails in fifth place.
Another Quality extended the lead round the bend, as One Ianzha Links and London Spirit started to get closer.
Entering the straight for the final two furlongs, it was still Another Quality leading the pack, with
One Ianzha Links lurking to strike. Halledeen had London Spirit in mid-pack, but had to divert course more to the inside, as Another Quality drifted to the outside.
With a furlong left to go, London Spirit, racing with the figure eight on, found his rhythm to pull away from rivals, winning by 4 ½ lengths in a final time of 1:29.4. The splits were 24.0 x 48.4 x 1:16.0.
One Ianzha Links finished second, with Another Quality occupying the third slot.
