PNP mourns passing of US civil rights leader Jesse Jackson
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party (PNP) has expressed sadness over the death of American civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson, who passed away on Tuesday morning.
In a release, the Opposition Spokesperson on Foreign, Regional and Diaspora Affairs, Senator Donna Scott-Mottley, said Reverend Jackson’s legacy is one that will endure for generations.
“Reverend Jesse Jackson was a moral voice in the global fight for justice, equality, and human rights. His lifelong advocacy for the oppressed and marginalised helped to shape international conversations on dignity, democracy, and inclusion. His courage and conviction inspired movements and leaders globally to believe that justice must always be pursued, even in the face of adversity.”
Scott-Mottley stated that at a time when the world continues to grapple with issues of inequality, discrimination, and social division, his life’s work stands as a lasting testament to the importance of advocacy rooted in compassion, conviction, and faith.
