KINGSTON, Jamaica—Dancehall sensation A1 Pelico has started the new year in fine style.

The multifaceted deejay says he is ready to take his career to a higher level and if the earth shattering buzz that is currently around his latest single entitled Mil A Day is anything to go by, then the deejay is definitely on the rise.

According to the deejay, the song was not written about anyone specific despite speculations on social media.

“Me nah throw nuh word pon nuh man me just a talk wheh me see and hear in the streets. The song a bun up di radio and the internet right now because it is catchy and relatable. Me know seh this song can push me career to a higher level, ” stated A1 Pelico.

Born Junior Shaw, the Riverton City native says he grew up in the inner-city and had the same financial and physical struggles as many other youths.

However, he used music as his escape route from his harsh reality at the time. He outlined that he used to listen to the music of his favourite artistes and visualise what he envisioned for himself.

“Growing up in the garrison, yuh look pon life different. Yuh smarter than the average and yuh appreciate the simple things more than the average yute. Me used to sing away me stress while growing up, which is why music forwards to me now so easily. I always wanted to live the sort of life that the artistes before me used to sing about. I may not be there yet, but I am certainly on my way, ” stated A1 Pelico.

Currently, A1 Pelico is enjoying a major buzz locally and internationally with radio stations and influencers taking a liking to his song and using their platforms to give the song major exposure.

The artiste is also busy in the studio working on several new singles.
