Tru-Juice and Holland PYC seek back-to-back wins in JFF Championship
TRU-JUICE FC and Holland PYC will seek to join Lime Hall Academy in winning their first two games of the Jamaica Football Championships when the competition continues today with a full compliment of eight games.
Tru-Juice FC will face last season’s semi-finalists, Meadforest FC, and a win would see them join Lime Hall at the top of Zone A on six points, while Holland PYC will play away to Reno FC at Llandilo Sports Complex and could take over the lead in Zone B with a win.
Meanwhile, Humble Lion FC and St Bess United will meet at Munro College in a top-of-Zone B clash, both on four points, while Sakka Club Brown’s Town FA and Petersfield FC will also be seeking to secure back-to-back wins after scoring victories last weekend.
Tru- Juice FC, who has played in every season of the competition, had opened the season with a 1-0 win over the Jamaica Defence Force and faces a Meadforest FC team also coming off a 1-0 win over the soldiers last weekend.
Holland PYC, who had drawn a bye in the opening round, opened their season by beating Duncans United 1-0 and will be up against a Reno FC team that was hammered 5-0 by Humble Lion FC on Sunday.
Humble Lion, who were relegated from the Jamaica Premier League last season, will be high on confidence after their big win over Reno FC and will be going after another victory.
However, St Bess United will have home advantage and they will hope they can build on their good start.
The WiFi United vs Sakka Club Brown’s Town game at Carder Park should be a good contest between two clubs separated by one point, while Gray’s Inn SC should get the better of the JDF who have gotten off to a slow start having lost both games played so far.
STETHS Elite — with a number of players who were part of the team that won the ISSA daCosta Cup — will be hoping for their first win when they host Petersfield FC, after playing out a 2-2 draw against Falmouth United.
Petersfield FC rebounded from an opening game loss to beat Falmouth United on Saturday.
Falmouth United will hope to bounce back from that loss when they host newcomers Roaring River FC at the Trelawny Multi-purpose stadium.
