WATCH: Vendors at Cross Roads market welcome beautification efforts
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Vendors who conduct business at Cross Roads Market in Kingston are welcoming a partnership between the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) and the Norwegian Seafood Council to support the placement and management of branded advertisements at both the Cross Roads and Papine markets in St Andrew.
The partnership was announced by Mayor of Kingston Andrew Swaby at the KSAMC’s monthly sitting of council on Tuesday, February 10.
Vendors say the beautification efforts at the market will attract more customers.
“I appreciate it. It will bring more customers. Actually, the Norwegian man, he came here and bought his things too, so I think he saw it needed a facelift,” said a meat vendor at the market.
Another vendor also praised the renovation efforts.
“Everybody come in and wonder how the market stayed because it was mostly potholes in the market. When rain fell, the water settled at the stall and you had to step over. Every morning you came, you had to sweep the water from your stall. It looks nuff better now,” the vendor said.
