“Another Sugar Cane Ball is upon us. What an auspicious date it is — February 14 — the day of love. It couldn’t be more perfect,” were the opening remarks of Round Hill Hotel and Villas Managing Director Josef Forstmayr, which resonated with the nearly 300 guests who converged on the property Saturday last for the 69th iteration of the Sugar Cane Ball. The annual gala, hosted by Hanover Charities, serves as a cornerstone of the organisation’s fund-raising to provide essential support to communities across the parish. Reflecting on a year marked by both hardship and the incredible resilience of the local community, Forstmayr set the tone for an evening in which generosity and glamour went hand in hand.
