Aidonia to ignite Jamaica Basketball half-time show
Basketball fans are in for a treat as Jamaican dancehall artiste Aidonia is set to headline the half-time show at the Jamaica vs Bahamas FIBA World Cup qualifier on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:10 pm, with Jamaica’s national team taking the court in what is shaping up to be one of the most important home games in the country’s basketball journey.
Game 2 will be played against Canada on Sunday, March 1 at the same venue.
In addition to Aidonia’s high-energy performance, spectators will also enjoy a celebrity shoot-out in which local celebrities and influencers will compete to score the most baskets in one minute, earning bragging rights as Jamaica’s ultimate “Top Shoota”.
Jamaica is competing in the FIBA World Cup qualification campaign as the national programme continues its push towards becoming one of the 32 teams to qualify for the 2027 FIBA World Cup.
These home games carry enormous significance for the players and supporters alike, marking a defining moment for basketball in Jamaica.
“This is a special moment for our basketballers and for the sport locally,” said Paulton Gordon, president of Jamaica Basketball Association (JaBA). “They are playing for national pride and for the continued growth of Jamaican basketball. Having the country rally behind them in a packed arena would mean everything.”
The Jamaica vs Bahamas matchup forms part of the FIBA World Cup qualifying series, with Jamaica aiming to take another important step forward in the competition.
