Harbour View ambush Mount Pleasant in JPL rescheduled game
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Relegation-threatened Harbour View FC ambushed title-chasing Mount Pleasant FA 1-0 in their rescheduled Jamaica Premier League first-round game played at Harbour View on Thursday.
The win was the first for Lenworth Hyde with Harbour View, the third coach to lead the east Kingston-based club, who were winning for the first time since they beat Spanish Town Police on December 7, a span of 12 games.
With the win Harbour View closed the gap on 12th-placed Treasure Beach to three points, moving to 19 points, while Mount Pleasant FA remained in fourth place on 41 points, missing a chance to take over second place, even with a draw.
Trayvone Reid scored a penalty in the 14th minute and defended doggedly against a Mount Pleasant FA team that was without six regular starters who were away with the men’s national senior team in Martinique.
Despite the absentees, Mount Pleasant FA had enough firepower to beat Harbour View but squandered their chances, and to rub salt in their wounds, Jahshaun Anglin, who was a 64th-minute substitute, was shown the red card in added time at the end of the second half.
