‘Sparta’ charged following stabbing incident in St Mary
ST MARY, Jamaica—A 24-year-old farmer has been charged with wounding with intent after he reportedly stabbed another man in Highgate, St Mary, on Saturday, February 7.
He has been identified as Ryan Hyatt, otherwise called ‘Sparta,’ a farmer of Cox Street, Port Maria, in the parish.
Reports from the Port Maria Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are that about 1:30 am, a man was standing on the roadway when he was approached by Hyatt, who brandished a scissor, which he used to inflict several stab wounds to the man’s chest before fleeing the scene.
The police were alerted, and the man was assisted to the hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.
Hyatt was arrested and brought into custody later the same day during a police operation in the area.
Hyatt was charged after he was positively identified on an identification parade.
He is to appear before the St Mary Parish Court on Monday, February 23.
