Man City expected to close gap with win against Newcastle

RB Leipzig and Dortmund collide in a high-profile German Bundesliga clash on Saturday, while Manchester City will aim to gain ground on EPL leaders Arsenal after they dropped points against Wolves in midweek.

Event # 1 – GER – RB Leipzig vs Dortmund – 12:30 PM

RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund will go head-to-head in a heavyweight clash in the Bundesliga tomorrow, Saturday, February 21, in a game that has clear implication on this season’s title race. Indeed, Dortmund arrive at the Red Bull Arena in sparkling form and momentum, while their hosts, Leipzig, are aiming for stability after a mixed bag of results recently. With that said, RB Leipzig enter this game off the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Wolfsburg in their most recent game, having led 2-0. That result followed a 2-0 defeat away to leaders Bayern Munich and a surprise 2-1 home defeat to Mainz, highlighting their recent defensive fragility.

Meanwhile, Dortmund arrive at the Red Bull Arena looking fabulous with six straight wins on the trot, having brushed aside Wolfsburg with ease, hammered Mainz 4-0, and then eased past Atalanta 2-0 in midweek Champions League action. With that said, confidence will be high in the camp as Dortmund remain unbeaten in their last six away trips, winning three times and drawing the other three. In fact, Dortmund has won the previous matches in all competitions by an aggregate score of 11-3, while they have lost just one domestic match, which came on October 18. Since then, they have been relentless in their chase of leaders Bayern Munich, who lead them by six points in the league standing.

Key Stats

• Dortmund have won the last four matches in all competitions by an aggregate scoreline of 11-3.

• Both sides – both teams have scored in eight of the last 10 meetings between both these sides.

The betting Tip. Dortmund win & both teams to score.

Event # 2 EPL – Manchester City vs Newcastle – 3:00 PM

Manchester City will host Newcastle in an eagerly anticipated Premier League showdown, eager to grasp the opportunity given to them by league leaders Arsenal, who dropped points against basement side Wolves in midweek. City enter this vital clash in exceptional form across all competitions, having won four and drawn one of the last five matches. Their most recent match saw them beating lower league side Salford 2-0 in FA Cup action, prior to that win, they dispatched Fulham 3-0 in the league at home. Indeed, Manchester City will be fully aware that this is a must-win match for them if they are to challenge Arsenal for the title, as they currently trail them by five points. Victory against Newcastle moves them to within two points of the Gunners, and confidence will be high in the camp as they demolished this Newcastle side 5-1 on aggregate earlier this month to secure their spot in the EFL Cup Final.

Newcastle, meanwhile, enter this crucial match off the back of a sensational Champions League performance on foreign soil in midweek as they kicked off their play-off tie with a massive 6-1 battering of Qarabag. Indeed, Newcastle, similar to Manchester City, have been in excellent form recently and impressively defeated Aston Villa 3-1 in FA Cup action. The midweek win against Qarabag means that Newcastle arrive at the Etihad Stadium off the back of three straight wins in all competitions, with the only loss during this impressive run coming against their upcoming opponents Manchester City as they relinquished the EFL Cup title they won last season.

Key Stats

• Man City are unbeaten in the last seven matches in all competitions and defeated Newcastle 5-1 in the EFL Cup semi-final when they met earlier this month.

• Newcastle won the last three matches in all competitions but have lost each of the last 16 matches against Man City.

• Both sides – Manchester City have not lost a single game against Newcastle at home since October 2014.

The betting Tip: Man City win.
