Vaz confirms normal operations at NMIA after scheduled shutdown
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Transport Minister Daryl Vaz has confirmed that there is currently no power outage at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), following a temporary closure to facilitate scheduled electrical upgrade works.
The airport was closed Thursday night to allow for the planned electrical infrastructure improvements. The work was successfully completed and operations resumed Friday at 5:40 am.
Providing an update, Vaz said, “There was a scheduled shut down at the airport early this morning and it was resumed at 5:00 am in order for the first flights, departing and arrival. All is normal at this time.”
