17-y-o implicated in St Mary businessman’s murder
ST MARY, Jamaica—A 17-year-old boy from Boscobel, St Mary, has been charged with conspiracy to rob and possession of criminal property in connection with the shooting death of 59-year-old businessman Garfield Singh at his Boscobel home on Monday, February 9.
Reports from the Port Maria police indicate that at approximately 3:30 am, residents heard banging followed by gunshots at Singh’s residence.
Checks were made, and the police were summoned after the businessman was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following investigations into the murder, a case file was prepared and submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for a ruling.
The teenager was subsequently charged after he gave a caution statement outlining his involvement in the commission of the crime.
His co-accused, Tyrone Dacosta, along with Constables Qwaine Blake and Daz Hayne, were also charged on Thursday, February 19.
His court date is being finalised.
