KC, IMMACULATE TRIUMPH
Corporate Area titles decided with record-breaking performances
Kingston College (KC) retained their Corporate Area Championships title and Immaculate Conception High won their first on the final day at Ashenheim Stadium in St Andrew yesterday.
KC scored 519 points to finish 44 ahead of Jamaica College (JC) on 475. Calabar High were third on 283.
The top 10 was completed by Wolmer’s Boys’ (157.5), Excelsior High (140), St George’s College (85.5), Campion College (64), Papine High (21), Ardenne (14), and Camperdown (4).
Immaculate Conception High tallied 408 points, well clear of dethroned champions Excelsior High on 288. Convent of Mercy Academy (Alpha) were third with 286.33. Wolmer’s Girls were fourth on 220.5, ahead of The Queen’s School (138.33), Merl Grove (144), St Andrew High (100.33), Campion College (62.5), Holy Childhood High (41), and Papine High (35).
Several records were broken.
KC’s 16-year-old Jason Pitter won the Class Two 400m in a record 46.35, also a personal best. Calabar’s Diwayne Sharpe, who had posted the early season’s fastest times, was second in 46.73. Pitter had beaten him at the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships last year.
Riquelme Reid clocked 20.45 in the Class One 200m. The wind reading of +2.4 m/s was above the legal limit, so the record remains 20.72.
KC’s Emmile Higgins won the Class Two 200m in a record 21.15 (+1.0). Kai Kelly of JC was second in a personal best 21.69.
Wolmer’s Girls’ Natrece East ran 23.49 in Class Two to lower the previous record of 24.20. Her teammate Akeelah Bell was second in 24.06.

KC collected 16 points in the boys’ Class One discus after Daijon Budhai and Dylan Logan moved from fourth and fifth to first and second with their final throws. Budhai won with 56.79m, Logan threw 56.58m, Calabar’s Deandre Henry was third with 56.44m and JC’s Denzel Phillips fourth with 56.00m. Favourite Joseph Salmon of JC did not record a mark and was eliminated after three throws. Calabar’s Kamari Kennedy was fifth with 53.71m. The result gave KC a 24-point lead at 155 to JC’s 131.
Jaeden Campbell of Excelsior broke the Class Two 400m hurdles record in 50.91, bettering the previous 52.66. Oneil Lawrence was second in a personal best 51.80, also under the old mark.
KC’s Odane Noble won the Class Two triple jump with a personal best 14.71m on his final attempt. He had earlier surpassed the previous record of 14.17m before Calabar’s Talshawn Edwards jumped 14.59m on his sixth round to take the lead. Demario Clarke of KC was third with 14.44m, giving KC 15 points.
Jada Francis of Immaculate won the Class One discus with 46.15m ahead of Merl Grove’s Abigail Bennett (45.73m).
Immaculate also won the Class Two discus through Jamie-Lee Tulloch with 40.32m. Enola Myers of Excelsior was second with 37.72m and Zoelle Jamel of Immaculate third with 36.46m.
