Mighty Mic has the Formula
TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD gospel recording artiste Mighty Mic says among the issues affecting young Christians today are traumatic and premature experiences and societal pressure.
He made the assertion in an interview with the Jamaica Observer on Friday, where he also spoke about his latest single Formula and his forthcoming EP.
“I’d say that the biggest issues affecting Christians today include soul wounds — traumatic/premature experiences — and societal/media pressure. I’d say a solvent for this issue could be more faith-based youth initiatives — outreach, conferences, gospel events — geared towards the challenges young Christians may be experiencing, as well as the inclusion of strategic mentorship through the partnership of elders and youth, because young Christians may not know how to approach this life as a believer,” said Mighty Mic.
As a young Christian himself, baptised just five years ago, the journey in Christendom has been mixed.
“The journey has been both hard and exciting. I’ve met some amazing people on the path that made the Christian life and journey way more beautiful in experience,” he declared.
Mighty Mic’s musical journey began shortly after he gave his life to the Lord.
“Music is always something I was capable of doing and interested in, but truly delved into it upon total discovery after giving my life to Jesus in 2020,” said the Spanish Town-based artiste, who attended St Catherine High School.
Formula is the latest single by Mighty Mic, which was released on February 16.
“Every song that I write is relative to an actual experience that I had, so this song Formula was birthed from the revelation of who we are as believers in a season where I was doubting my place. The song really rekindled and ignited the idea of us being mighty in Christ. It’s also an encouragement for people to come to Jesus based on the intentional lyrical content and structure the song entails,” Mighty Mic reasoned.
Formula is a joint production between Daleybeatz and Crosslinks Production.
Asked what he brings to the table musically, Mighty Mic said: “Newness, authenticity, energetic and versatile gospel dancehall vibes, and a unique flow for this generation.”
Mighty Mic, who worships at Tarrant Baptist Church, says an EP is on the way.
“I haven’t released a body of work, but I plan to drop my EP titled The God Life a few months from now, so the people will be getting a lot more from me this year,” he shared.
