Navasky Anderson reclaims men’s indoor 800m record
KINGSTON, Jamaica—The Jamaican men’s indoor 800m record has been broken for a fourth time in eight days after Navasky Anderson ran 1:44.75 seconds for fourth at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup 2026, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Toruń, Poland on Sunday.
Anderson’s time is joint 11th best in the world so far, and broke the 1:45.62 seconds set by Rivaldo Marshall at an indoor meet held at Tyson Track at the University of Arkansas Friday evening. He also took an incredible 1.25 seconds off his previous best of 1:46.10 seconds set at a meet in France three days earlier as the record changed hands three times between two athletes in four days, a week after Tyrice Taylor had run 1:46.61 seconds.
Meanwhile, national record holder Lamara Distin jumped a season’s best 1.94m for second in the women’s high jump, a mark that is tied for ninth best in the world.
Nickisha Anderson was third in her women’s 400m heat in 51.65 seconds.
